Vintage Poole Sugar & Creamer, Nickel Silver, Sheffield Plate
Poole Silver Company of Taunton, Massachusetts made this nickel silver, Sheffield plate, sugar and creamer. All of this information is on the bottom of each piece, along with a pattern number "9103." There is an applied step band to the bottom of each piece and a reverse step band to the top. The handsome paneled shape has large sections alternating with smaller sections on the bodies of the two pieces. The handles have an architectural look and are ridged on each side. The interiors are in nice shape so that the pair can be used as well as displayed. We also like them as containers for small arrangements. They are heavy and stable. The creamer is 5 inches from tip of handle to tip of spout. The sugar is 6.5 inches from tip of handle to tip of handle. The sugar is 4 inches tall to top of finial. The creamer is 3 inches tall. Nickel silver is an alloy of nickel, copper, and zinc. The fact that it is Sheffield plate means it has a copper base. The plate is in generally good condition; on the creamer a bit of copper shows through.
