Description
This lovely sugar scuttle, sometimes called a sugar well, is ideal for sugar cubes. It comes with its own scoop, which can be stored in a compartment behind the scuttle handle. The scuttle is marked as made by “Raimond,” probably about 1960, while the design and pattern are Victorian. Raimond Silver Manufacturing Company of Chelsea, Massachusetts, was actively involved with importation of sterling and silver-plate goods in the 1960s and 1970s. This piece is silver-plated hollowware, with the interior of the scuttle washed with gold. Measures about 5½” x 5½”. Coming from a private collection. Good condition with some to-be-expected wear on inside of scuttle and on tip of scoop; no dents, stains, repairs, or other cosmetic/structural issues. A conversation piece for today’s table or as part of a collection!Non-smoking household.
