Lot of 3 Ben Franklin Poor Richard's Maxim Ceramic Children's Mug 6 Oz. England. Made in England by Mottahedeh for and distbuted by the Independence National Historic Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA), these three mugs have a few of Franklin's famous maxims and illustrations screen-printed on them.
The graphics appear to be reproductions of the pre-American Revolution illustrations and fonts used in the original printings of the maxims. The mugs themselves are done in a contemporary style.
The mugs included in this lot are:

FRANKLIN'S MAXIMS
on management has two illustrations showing men at work with the following 4 maxims:
- "Not to oversee workmen is to leave them your purse open";
- "If you would have a faithfil servant & one that you like, serve yourself";
- "He that by the plough would thrive, himself must either hold or drive"; and
- "The eye of the master will do more work than both his hands"

BEN'S LESSONS FOR YOUTH ON INDUSTRY, TEMPERANCE, FRUGALITY
with the following maxims:
- :If you would know the value of money, borrow some"; and
- "When the well is dry, they know the worth of water"
We don't know the exact date of manufacture for these pieces, but
we
are guessing
it was some time in the 1980s. If you have any better information on these items, please let us know and we'll update this post as appropriate.
Condition
is Excellent, Used. No chips, cracks, breaks, scratches, wear, or color fading in any of the 3 mugs.
