    Description

    A substantial size, silver plated, confectionery sugar shaker/dispenser made
    by L. Barth & Son in the
    early 1900's. Founded in 1868 by Leopold Barth, the company became
    L. Barth & Son between
    1900-1926,
    and from 1931 on. The firm
    was a major manufacturer
    and supplier for restaurants, hotels,
    and railroads.
    This sugar shaker was originally made for a DELL RESTAURANT and that name has been defaced.
    The shaker is marked MANUFACTURED AND PLATED BY L. BARTH & SON, NEW YORK,
    NICKEL SILVER.
    Height 5 in., base diameter 3 1/8 in., top diameter 2 3/8 in. The shaker has several
    small
    scratches and the
    handle has two small dents. The top has some fine pebbling.
