Description
Offered is this antique silverplate cream pitcher and two-handled covered sugar bowl, made by E. G. Webster & Bro. The Brooklyn, New York company was in business from around 1873-1886 before the name changed to E. G. Webster & Son. The pieces have a hammered surface (maybe hand-chased?) decorated with flowers and leaves. There is a shield design around the top of each. There is a small scroll design on the front and back of each intended for a monogram but neither piece has been monogrammed. Small flowers decorate each of the handles and both pieces have four ornate feet. The sugar bowl is approx. 6" high, including the lid, and about 6 3/4" across from handle to handle. The creamer is approx. 4 1/2" high and about 5" across from handle to spout. The pieces are in good condition for their age, with some problems. The creamer has one small dent, not easily noticeable amidst the hammered surface and the top opening is slightly out of round. The underside of the sugar bowl lid is slightly bent in two places. Much of the plating is worn; I would estimate approx. half remains.
