his elegant French 19th century
Ercuis
silverplated
set includes a cream pitcher and a sugar bowl. The upper edges of each are ornamented with rows of beading and the feet are crafted with acanthus leaves surrounding medallions. The finial of the sugar bowl is in the shape of a seedpod. A lovely flower shaped attachment connects the handle of the pitcher to the body while the handles of the sugar bowl are crafted in the shape of branches with beads and leaves. , silver manufacturing company created in 1867 in the village of

, north of Paris: the name “
Ercuis
” written in block letters and the initials “O.E.” (

) surrounding the images of a centaur. The bottoms are numbered,“

”, indicating the year of production. They are also marked with the silver content, “

”, for the sugar bowl and, “

”, for the cream pitcher. These two pieces are in excellent condition with the exception of faint scratches and a few tiny dark spots of corrosion, all due to great age and normal use.
