Description
An incredible early1920's Silver-Plated Pot/Urn
in the
Egyptian Revival Style
... celebrating 100 years since it was manufactured!
Crafted by Farber Brothers of New York, it features a
1-inch wide frieze of various classical "Egyptian" motifs in low relief (n
o two images seem to be repeated)! Egyptian lotus flowers and scarab beetles separate the images circling the urn. The two handles also have Egyptian details. A faint hallmark on the bottom shows SILVERCRAFT over silverplate symbols ... and E.P.N.S. (
"Electro Plated Nickel Silver"
). SILVERCRAFT which indicates Farberware pieces dating from the early 1920's).
The darker color on this urn indicates where the silver plating has worn away from age and use, leaving the base metal exposed. Please note that this item is slightly uneven/distorted, though not overly noticeable (see photos).
Measures just over 12" long, 8-1/2" wide, 9-1/2" tall.
Exquisite detail -- with several
pyramids
, the
Sphinx
,
scarabs
, and even camels featuring prominently! A must for lovers of Egypt or the Egyptian Revival style. Even in its worn state, this is certainly an exotic objet d'art of fine craftsmanship and classical beauty.
Ideal as a planter, to display flowers or even as a potpourri bowl.
