Description
This is a reproductions of a 1755 Chelsea pattern piece. It is from the Mottahedeh line called Stately Homes of England and represents tableware from Crom Castle. The piece features hand painted exotic birds perched on branches. Leaves decorate the side where branches form side handles. The edge is scalloped, trimmed in gold. Background color is a very pale gray. Border is a basketweave pattern. The underside is marked: Reproduction of Chelsea circa 1755 Crom Castle. Markings within a shield shape read: STATELY HOMES SIR HUMPHREY WAKEFIELD Br. Mottahedeh ENGLAND appears at bottom of markings. Piece measures approx. 11" across (side to side) and is approx. 7 1/4" wide.Plate appears to have been made around 2000, it was purchased from a well know New York Interior Designer’s estate. The designer inventoried a lot of Mottahedeh pieces, probably for resale to clients. This plate must have been display pieces or stored as future client purchases. It show absolutely no surface wear of any kind.
